French Fries and Ice Cream and a Little Anne Too...

Day two has been a beautiful, sunny day, which makes the red earth redder, the green fields greener, and, you guessed it, the blue skies and water even bluer.  This is such a gorgeous part of our incredible country.  Danica is getting quite good at reading maps and if only I was better at listening, we may avoid these stunning detours.

I started my day exploring the gardens at the Inn we called home last night while Danica got herself ready to go.

Then we headed off to O'Leary to visit the Potato Museum.  It was actually quite interesting to learn about the history of the potato.  The highlight for Danica was the lunch we had at their Country Kitchen.  She claims they were the best fries she's ever had.  I know my poutine was to die for.  We also had a sample of their potato fudge and shared a can of the orange pop so highly recommended by the guy at the rental car place.

From there, we continued along the North Cape Coastal route when we didn't take a wrong turn, heading to the Kensington Train Station, which is featured in the film version of Anne of Green Gables.

Afterwards, we began to follow the Central Coast drive to visit the Anne of Green Gables Museum at Silver Birch.  Apparently this was the house where Lucy Maud Montgomery's aunt and uncle lived.  She was actually married in front of the altar in the living room.  Her 'Pat of Silver Birch' books were set here.  The house is still owned by the descendants of her Aunt and Uncle.  It is also the site of the Lake of Shining Waters.  Unfortunately we were not able to go on Matthew's Carriage Tour.

Supposedly Lucy Maud used this screw to measure her height, claiming it came up to her nose as a child and up to her knees as an adult.  I think she may have been exaggerating her adult height as her wedding dress would likely fit Danica.

Our final stop before heading to Charlottetown was Lucy Maud Montgomery's birthplace.  Here, we saw the room where she was born and her wedding dress.

With the help of Google Maps to navigate the city, we managed to find our Air BnB. It looked a little sketchy at first, but it's lovely inside and the other people staying here are nice too.

After checking in, we set out to visit the Cows Creamery Boardwalk.  I tried the BBQ Brisket grilled cheese at MooMoo's Grilled Cheeserie and a blueberry ale from the beer place next door while Danica tried a Boom burger.  We followed all that up with a Factory Tour and ice cream at COWS.  I tried the Fluff and Utter while Danica chose the Moo Crunch.  Deliciousness.

Tomorrow we were hoping to visit Green Gables, Avonlea Village and then spend the afternoon at a couple of beaches but the forecast is for rain in the afternoon so we may have to change our plans...
