Exactly 3 weeks from today, Robert and I will arrive in the land of waltzes, singing hills, Sachertorte and weiner schnitzel. Our vacation will actually begin 2 days earlier when we head to Traverse City to board our flight across the great blue sea. That is only 11 working days and a few extra hours for me (not sure for Robert as he is still doing the 2 full-time jobs so I can't keep his schedule straight), but who's counting?
Now since it is just the two of us venturing off this time, I suppose the blog name isn't particularly appropriate for this trip but I am going to write it anyways. I figure it's an easy way to update people on our adventures and they help me keep track of all the places we go and things we do and see during our usually jam-packed days.
I guess I should fill you in on the details as we know them so far...
Robert and I are going to Vienna, Austria for a long overdue visit with our dear friend, Tanya, and her husband, Markus, who we haven't yet met (except through Skype). Other than loads of giggling, I don't know what else we will be doing or seeing. I sent Tanya a list of things I thought sounded cool but I'm sure they have other things to introduce us to as well. Maybe we will come back all cultured!
From there, we are taking a train to Budapest, Hungary where we will spend 2 days sightseeing before boarding the Avalon Expression for a 4 day river cruise on the Danube back to Vienna. We will be stopping in Bratislava, Slovakia and then cruising through Austria's Wachau Valley with stops in Melk and Durnstein before heading back to Vienna. And then after another couple of days with Tanya and Markus, we will be heading back home .
I am pretty excited - I haven't spent much time in Europe and never in this area. And so much has happened since we last saw Tanya so it will be awesome to see her again in real life as well.
Keep an eye on this spot for updates!
